Hey all, life is going great at Chateau Le Connorson. Seamus and I are basking in a lazy summer...
well lazy except that we're both rather, well, employed. Still, we're managing to have a ton of fun.
And now we have a couch! Shout out to Amy, Aaron and Hailey for their generous contribution to the Seamus & Sarah Poverty Alleviation Foundation. We celebrated by watching Dr. Strangelove and falling asleep. Seamus hasn't drooled all over the couch yet, but give it time.
Seamus is doing well at work. They have finally recognized his talent and given him some actual coding work to do. I'm rather happy about this because it means that they must trust/like him even if he's some punk college kid. :)
Work for me is going well also. Things at the SADS Foundation are infinitely less frustrating, and now that we have a new office manager I'm actually getting to work on projects more to my liking. (i.e. not involving human interaction) My boss and coworkers seem to think I've been doing a good job, which means I have been successful in keeping my irritation to myself at having to work collaboratively. I edited a film for the Genetic Alliance conference, and I have been able to keep to my dorky self recently, working on computer and database stuff instead of...you know...talking to people. We're moving on up to some larger office space too, and despite the new paint color being yellow, I'm pleased as punch.
The Library is...well...usual. I was passed up for a promotion again, but hey, I'm still a newbie compared to most people around there so I'm not too suprised. I'm trying for ANOTHER this week, and I don't expect to get it, but I figure if I throw myself up against that brick wall enough, I'll eventually wear it down...or collapse in a puddle of disappointment...haha. Seriously though, I'm enjoying work there, I pretty much get paid to put books away and talk about sandwiches with my wickedly funny coworkers.
Oh yeah, and we have a "Staff Picks" shelf, and I'm proud to say that mine is one of the first to get checked out consistently. I do have a propensity towards ridiculous horror films, which is in keeping with our patron's taste, so that's probably why...I definitely get guff for choosing them...but I don't care what anybody says, a cannibal film set during the Spanish American war is AWESOME! (I'm referring to "Ravenous" btw)

I hate when people actually say "BTW" rather than just "By the way" because it's only faster when you are writing, but takes longer to speak. Kudos for using it properly
Getting paid to put books away and talk about sandwiches--ohhh, that takes me back. Good times, even if I did work for the big bad evil capitalist mega-bookstore.
Kellie...you know people that actually SPEAK the letters B-T-W instead of saying by the way?
